Activity 1.5: Letter arguing for funds

7th September, 2016

To whom it may concern,

Funding Application for our PhilipsNet Project.

I am writing to request your support to fund our PhilipsNet project, a non-for-profit project which is geared towards fighting against malaria in developing nations.

I have been the African regional chairman of PhilipsNet for the past decade, a non-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the health of vulnerable people, most of whom live in developing countries. Our PhilipsNet game-changing solutions contribute to a healthier, more sustainable planet by fighting malaria, HIV/AIDS, diarrheal diseases and neglected tropical diseases.

Being the largest producer of long lasting insecticidal bed nets, our PhilipsNet bed nets have played a significant role in preventing vector-borne disease such as malaria, which kills a child every 60 seconds and claims more than 660,000 deaths annually. Additionally, more than one billion people have benefited from PhilipsNet bed nets, which have contributed to the reduction in deaths from malaria by more than one third.

Despite these outstanding success with our PhilipsNet project, it is noted that there are millions of people around the world who are dying or being infected by mosquitos transmitted diseases. We would appreciate if you could donate the sum of $3,500,000 to cover the part-cost of producing the long lasting insecticidal bed nets for eight million vulnerable families within the next three years.

Thank you for your consideration.

Yours Sincerely

Irving Philips

African Regional Chairman
